Why Worcester?
Oh the power of Facebook! The club was set up after my previous experiences as an RE Veteran.
Some 10 years ago after networking on Facebook and Royal Engineers groups, I attended my first Sapperfest...In a field...with a tent....with 500 other Sappers all weekend. You can imagine the social element of all these veterans coming together after all the years. Well it was through these groups that i'd spoken to Del Hardman RE (the Sapper who started the first ever club in Hull) at Sapperfest 14. He told me about his breakfast club and how it attracted all types, so I thought this is a good idea, i'll look in to it when back home. Well, 6 months later, I started looking at the brekkie club website map on www.afvbc.net and found the nearest one was Bromsgrove which was too far. So I decided to set one up in Worcester at the Postal Order, knowing it was central and the pub chain are well known for their well priced food and drink. So after printing posters, contacting the press and setting up a facebook page, the first club took place on Saturday the 5th of September 2015 with about 10 veterans ranging from Sigs, Tankies and Grease Monkeys (mechanics to most people)............... And now we've moved round the corner to the other spoons, The Crown.
